Borneo Epic Sematan Endurance Challenge 2011

You think you have ridden the best mountain bike trail? Wait till you try Borneo best kept secret, the mighty all terrain Sematan that will push every avid mountain bikers skill to their limit.

Introducing Malaysia best mountain biking epic loops trails, The region is well-known for its world-class mountain biking trails combining the most challenging rides with stunning scenery. This year, Sematan endurance challenge trails start with a 8km on road warm up cycle from the fishing village town of sematan before hitting the 100km track's trailhead. Inward is a spider wed-like network of trails, crisscrossing from Gunung Gading national park to foothill of the region legendary highest mountain, Gunung Pueh where one can appreciate the incredible views of surrounding mountains.

Bikers are expected to zigzag through various terrains trail that no single class tyre will be suited for the whole journey. From hard compact gravel road to soft silica sand trails. Tons of single tracks await FSA riders and dramatic elevation changes climb taking riders to breathtaking view, with numerous streams to splash through and hanging bridge to cross, Riders are also to ride through many local villages and confusing plantations route. But no worries , we will clearly mark the trails. In 2010, we saw huge numbers of challengers in Sematan Mountain Bike Challenge 2010, successfully completed the 60 km way ahead of 9 hours cut off time. This year, 2011, we will raise the difficulty from Moderate to Tough, 100 km in 9 hours and 60km in 8 hours.

This year we are even more excited with the endorsement from Sarawak Tourism Board, enabling us to reach out further in showcasing Sarawak to the world. We have also received encouraging sponsorships from various quarters for this year event and are expecting more to come.

In the week to come, we are hoping to be able to start registering participants. So look out for the registration forms as we have limited goodies bag from the main sponsor Shimano and plenty of gifts and lucky draw to be won. Bikers, remember to register earlier so not to be disappointed. Also, do check back occasionally for updates as this site is under constructions.

For riders outside of Kuching, we are more than willing to provide our warm Sarawak hospitality. Please do not hesitate to contact us so we can extend our service in logistic transfer and accommodation for inbound bikers.
